Groundbreaking for a new 6000-square foot medical services building in Rockwood will take place in Spring 2009, with move-in in Fall 2009. The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care will pay for ongoing costs of the medical clinic but does not fund “bricks and mortar” costs. The capital needs for this project are estimated at $450,000.
This is a critical opportunity for our community, one that requires support from all sectors. We ask you to consider supporting this initiative which will add tremendous value to the entire Rockwood community and will help attract doctors and increase access to health care in the region. A new health care centre will enhance both the quality of life and the look of the downtown core of Rockwood.
Volunteer
You can make a positive difference to the health of our community. Get involved:
- Are you a retired nurse? A social worker home with your children? Someone who has cared for an aging parent? A yoga teacher? Someone with interest in healthy living? We are looking for people to help plan and operate health awareness events, cancer screening, support groups and health promotion.
- Do you know everyone in town? Love to tell a great story? We need people to help us raise awareness about and funds for the East Wellington Family Health Team.
- Got flair? We could use help with graphic design.
- Interested in shaping the future of health care in our community? We are looking for volunteers to serve a term on our Board of Directors, our community advisory board and other committees.
